About Armonde Alek Baghdanian , MD
Dr. Baghdanian grew up in West Hills and attended the University of California Los Angeles for his undergraduate degree in biology and graduated with university and departmental honors. He then completed medical school in Philadelphia at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Baghdanian’s medical training began at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia where he completed an internship in Internal Medicine. He went on to complete a diagnostic radiology residency at Boston University Medical Center where he received the Residency Research Award. He went on to complete an abdominal imaging and ultrasound fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. After a year of fellowship, Dr. Baghdanian was hired as an assistant professor of Radiology at UCSF in abdominal imaging. Following a year of service on faculty at UCSF, Dr. Baghdanian moved to the department of radiology at the University of Southern California to be closer to his family in Los Angeles.

Dr. Baghdanian now serves as an assistant professor of Radiology at the University of Southern California and attends the Abdominal Imaging services and interventions at the Los Angeles County USC Hospital, Norris Cancer Center, and Keck Medical Center. He is the director of body CT at the Los Angeles County hospital of USC and directs the clinical workflow of diagnostic CT studies related to abdominal and pelvic oncology and imaging of hospital inpatients.

His primary duties include reading abdominal imaging studies (CT, MR, and plain film radiographs), reading ultrasound examinations (head/neck, soft tissue, abdominal, pelvic), supervising and performing GI and GU fluoroscopic studies, supervising and performing ultrasound and CT guided biopsies, and supervising residents and trainees on service.

While working at USC, Dr. Baghdanian has had the opportunity to become a member of the Armenian Medical International Committee to help improve Radiology services in the Republic of Armenia. In addition, his research interests at USC involve imaging of abdominal and pelvic malignancies and emergency radiology.
