About Kenneth R. Ziegler , MD

Dr. Ziegler is fellowship-trained to provide both complex endovascular therapy and open vascular surgery for the treatment of vascular pathology, for which he provides consultation and treatment. His interests within vascular surgery are wide and varied, and include particular concentrations in abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease, ischemia, limb salvage, and stroke and carotid artery disease. His publications include book chapters on carotid-based cerebral ischemia, small aneurysm disease, and amputations, articles on the improving the treatment of peripheral vascular disease, and basic science research on vein graft adaptation.

Within the clinical sphere, Dr. Ziegler is actively interested in exploring optimal approaches for vascular reconstruction in the setting of chronic and acute ischemia, as well as using individual-focused strategies to maximize his patients’ quality of life in the context of their systemic diseases.

The care of the patient that comes to the attention of a vascular surgeon can be remarkably complex. It is rare that our patients experience only a single medical issue that can be cured by a procedure; for our patients, the episode that brings them to our care is often just a manifestation of a major systemic disease, such as diabetes or atherosclerosis. As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Ziegler always seeks to treat the patient and their disease in the context of their entire life experience.

To this effect, he tailors the care he provides and offers to the specific needs of the patients that seek his help. Whether the decision is between open or endovascular approaches or a non-operative vs. surgical paradigm, he endorses a patient-centered pathway toward disease management.

Dr. Ziegler is board-certified in Vascular Surgery.
