Sanjeet G. Patel, PhD, MD

Dr. Patel is a board certified adult cardiac surgeon. He received his MD from Baylor College of Medicine and served his General Surgery residency at UCLA. During his time there, he completed his PhD in molecular biology with an emphasis on gene regulation in human pluripotent stem cells. He then completed his cardiothoracic surgery training at Keck Medicine of USC under the guidance of Dr. Vaughn Starnes.

Dr. Patel has particular interests in treating aortic and valvular diseases and specializes in aortic surgery, valve surgery, coronary disease, and mechanical circulatory support. His current research focuses on understanding the fundamental biology behind the diseases he treats as well as uncovering the genetic contributors in order to holistically treat his patients and their families.

He is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and a diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
